Diane Machcinski, MEd, RD
Diane founded A+ Nutrition over 25 years ago to help clients struggling with nutrition-related medical concerns look and feel better. She has counseled thousands of patients during this time, as well as mentored and trained hundreds of dietitians across the country who utilize her methods of treatment and prevention.
Diane earned degrees from Ohio’s University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University and possesses a Master's Degree in Nutrition Education. As a registered dietitian nutritionist, Diane specializes in medical nutrition therapy for weight loss, diabetes, kidney failure, heart health, gastrointestinal disorders (aka gut health), metabolic syndrome, cancer, complex medical diagnoses and preventive health.
She is the 2010 recipient of the California Dietetic Association’s Dolores Nyhus Outstanding Achievement Award, the highest award given to a California Dietitian for outstanding contributions to the field. Her work experience includes Chief Clinical Dietitian at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Clinical Dietitian for Scripps Executive Health, Clinical Dietitian in Toledo Ohio, Program Manager San Diego County Community Health Services, and Instructor of Nutrition and Nutrition & Fitness at Palomar & Mesa Community Colleges.
She has been a Medicare Medical Nutrition Provider since its inception 2001 and has reported on the Physician Quality Reporting System. Diane is a Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan Managed Care Provider for Medicare and Medi-Cal as well is credentialed for the Veterans Administration Choice Program and has been provider for Health Net and Vantage Medical Group.
Janice Shigehara, RD, CDE
Janice is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 20 years of experience, including 15 years at Scripps Clinic consulting with more than 1,000 individuals with prediabetes, diabetes, and gestational diabetes.
Her teaching and media experience include heart-healthy food demonstrations and talks for CBS and ABC local affiliate stations as well at the AAUW Poway/Rancho Bernardo branch and numerous healthy cooking classes at Scripps Clinic.
Janice is also a SoCal resource expert in cardiovascular disease for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Program Director for the Dietetic Service Supervisor Certificate Program at San Diego Mesa College, overseeing students placed in long-term care facilities
Janice enjoys the challenge of working with people of different ages, ethnicities, socioeconomic, and educational levels, to make positive lifestyle changes that will work for them in the long-term.
